As a business owner, tracking receipts can be a nightmare. After all, who has time to keep up with all of these little slips of paper? But did you know that using QuickBooks, you can simplify how you track and record your expenses.

Take a Picture!

If you can take a picture, then you can track expenses in QuickBooks. There are several ways you can do this:

1. Take a picture of your receipt on your phone and email it to yourself, which you then have to organize later.
2. Take a picture of your receipt on your phone and email it to your unique QuickBooks email account, which automatically matches the receipts to expenses as they are posted.
3. Download the QuickBooks app and use the receipts feature to snap pictures of your receipts that are directly uploaded into QuickBooks and automatically matched to expenses.

Forward your Emails

If you regularly receive your receipts via email, such as your software subscriptions, you can also use QuickBooks to manage your receipts. You would simply forward your receipt emails to your unique QuickBooks email account. Receipts sent to QuickBooks in this way also get automatically matched to expenses as they are posted to your account.

How to Obtain your Unique QuickBooks/Intuit Email

QuickBooks offers a simple way to obtain your unique email address.

1. From your QuickBooks account, go to Accounting.
2. Then, select Receipts.
3. Locate the Enter email address field.
4. Enter your company name or other memorable name in this field, as [mycompanyname]@assist.intuit.com.
5. Your new unique email address will automatically be assigned with the @assist.intuit.com handle.
6. Select Next.
7. Select Done.

And voila! Now, you’re ready to simply forward email receipts to your unique QuickBooks/Intuit email address.
